This is the unique original Watercolour painting by Eric Parker.

For five years the British and French fought each other along their borders in North America. It came to an end in 1759 with victory for the army of General James Wolf, but would not have been possible without the Navy.

The Navy escorted the Army up the St Lawrence River. The French considered "The Traverse" - 65 miles from Quebec - impassable to larger vessels unless they had a local pilot. The British hoisted French flags to attract the pilots and got through that way.

In the top illustration the troops are going ashore. Second panel shows that the French attempted to use fire ships to wreck the British fleet but sailors in cutters went out to haul the menace away.

The final illustration shows canon being hauled up the Heights of Abraham from where they could attack the Quebec garrison.
